What is Library Solidarity:
Library Solidarity is a not-for-profit organization, set up to send quality used book donations to South Africa for use in establishing libraries in both primary and secondary schools. We also send books and letters to prisoners across America.

Why Should You Contribute:

Since South Africa’s democratic transition, the right to education for all has been a key legislative priority. Apartheid created a deeply fragmented education system. The majority of Black schools in both urban and rural areas remain under-resourced. Only 8% of public schools in South Africa have functional libraries. Your Used Books can help end educational inequality in South Africa. Quality used books in English, which we may have sitting around our homes, can make a difference for Primary and Secondary schools lacking library facilities. Putting books in children’s hands is positive change that can last a lifetime. Prisoners benefit from the educational, and emotional support received during their time behind bars; and when they get free are less likely to commit another crime due to the help they get while inside.
